Project update!

Looking back at my last few posts I feel quite accomplished! I have finished quite a bit. Plus I've been working on scrapbook and video projects (which those are almost too stressful to talk about)

First things first. Here's what I've finished!!
Pants for the Marcemallow (Pattern drafted by me ....aka drawing around another pair that I like)

Peg+Cat costume was a huge success. The best part of the whole thing was when I got it all on and walked down the hallway to greet Marcelyn and she recognized me as Peg and got SUPER excited. I have a really good picture of all of us together, but I'm not finding it at the moment so I'lll have to share it later.

I also have finished knitting my cardigan but don't seem to have pictures of it on my iPad. I'll have to look for those too. I'm so happy to have finished my first sweater. It's also very pleasing to have made something that I enjoy wearing. Being that it's mostly wool I have to wear it with a long sleeved turtle neck...but it is the warmest sweater I've ever owned in my life....AND I LOVE IT!!

My latest endeavor has been card making. Or as I like to call it Paper Crafting. It's very satisfying. It's still to be determined if it is indeed cheaper to make my own greeting cards it certainly is more fun!

If you would like to place an order of 15 cards just let me know! 15 cards for $20. I'll have to look into flat rate shipping packaging. The post office is the only place in town that's reasonable on shipping with normal hours of opperation.

Costume extravaganza!

Wow....I'm not even sure when my last post was, but I know it's been way over a year ago because it had been a while when I had Marcelyn and she will be 10 months old next week 😱😢

That's cute little her ☺️ oh and I made her pants!

So Halloween is in a few days and me being my creative self I HAVE to make my own costumes.... It's just lame to go spend money on a pre made costume. Marcelyn's favorite show right now is Peg + Cat.
Super cute. So I ventured out to make our own costumes. I thought about buying Cat, but I couldn't find him.
I refashioned an 2XL t-shirt into a dress for me ( forgot to photograph the process) and I'm going to use this (http://burkeshires.blogspot.com/2010/03/how-to-make-toddler-playsuitromper-from_05.html) tutorial to make Cat.
I'm super excited to share the finished product 😊

Project Update

Yikes! It's been over a year since my last post!
Not that anyone reads this, but I can't believe it's been that long. So many great projects I've made since then.  I think my favorite was THE cutest giraffe softy.

Is he not the cutest little guy you've ever seen!
A friend of mine from church had a cute little girl and their nursery theme was safari. This was just too cute of a pattern to pass up.
I've also embarked on an adventure that I've rather enjoyed so far.  I'm knitting my first sweater….and actually getting past the ribbing.  I've started a few others but ended up not liking the yarn or the pattern.  I was inspired by Interweave magazines issue back in January featuring a bunch of sweaters.  I was captured by the cover sweater because I had the perfect yarn that I have been holding on to since 2007 when I bought it in China.  It's pink (of corse) and it needed the perfect project to be used in.  I knitted up some swatches and was ready to start when I lost the needles…..yes, I lost them…so upsetting.  Yes, I could have gone and bout another pair, but I knew as soon as I did replace the missing needles I'd find them.  Still haven't found them…and now they have been replaced.  While "looking" for the needles I started a different sweater (also from Interweve's magazine) well cardigan really.  It's one of my most complicated projects I've done so far and I am very proud of my progress.

I even love the color!
Unfortunately Wedding season is in full swing and Lofstrom family birthday month is fast approaching.  I still am not for certain what to make for all the weddings I have in the next month.  One is my best friend from high school, we've kinda lost touch the last couple of years…but we've stayed friends since we met.  It's also taken me every bit of the 10+ years to get to know her lol…. Then my room mate from bible school is also getting married… but I won't be making it to that wedding my cousins baby shower is the same day.  I'm much closer to my cousin and that side of the family than I am with her.  I still will be making a gift though.  THEN my older brother gets married in less than a month and I know I need to put something together for them but I'm pretty stumped.  And on top of all of those events I'm about 4 months pregnant getting over morning sickness.  I'm forgetting a few events in there too….

Oh I found this pattern the other day. I've started it and so far I'm in love.  I'm making it for my little niece that turns 3 in November.  I'm hoping to have it done in time for her birthday, but we'll just have to see how the next few months go…
Here is the blog of the designer. and here is the link to the pattern on revelry.  It's a free patter and I'm so excited to see the finished product!

Besides that (and the occasional dishcloth) that's all I'm working on right now.  Trying to think if I've finished any of my other projects that I've started…..
probably not….

Anyway thanks for reading

Road trip!!

Road trips are the greatest. I started several projects and managed to only finish 1!!! Haha oh well. My first project I started I probably could have finished on the way home but decided to start a new hat that I learned how to make by someone I met while on my trip.  It's a pretty simple patten. Cast on an odd number or stitches. I placed a marker for my round just for reference incase I want to change colors or want to decrease for the crown of the hat. Anyway I CO 71 sts. Joining in the round the pattern says to k2,p2. Continue this pattern for the rest of the hat. Eventually when you get the the end of the round there will be one less stitch so you will either have to k1 or p1 from the other side of the round, that's just fine. It's supposed to be like that. It creates a really neat seed patten. Not to mention it's a very easy pattern to do so conversing with others is easy as well.
The other project I started was a hat as well. It's called the Joey hat and can be found in revelry. I doubled up my yarn and used some bigger needles than the pattern calls for and it tells you how to make the hat bigger or smaller. I of corse made mine smaller. I'll post pictures of them when I finish them 😊
That's the latest of my crafting adventures. I hope to get further on my quilt soon. I've decided on a pattern finally just need to remember to buy fabric now. I've meet someone willing to teach me without charging me an arm and a leg. Woot!!
More details on that when I have more time to post.

Cowl for Molly!

YES!!! Finally found a cowl pattern that I LOVE! thanks to my favorite website ravelry.com

I have some random yarn that should be pretty warm and another yarn that's just pretty....don't really know how to describe it. The pattern that I found is on another blog (here's the link).  It should be perfect. Naturally I like to make things on bigger needles.  In this pattern it gives the repeat of pattern which is perfect. I get to use large needles bulky combination of yarns which will mean a beautiful cowl! I'm excited.

Here's a rough idea to what I'll be knitting:
using size 13 circular needles I'll be casting on 51 stitches (because the pattern I'm following says to cast on 10+1)
work a few rows of guarder stitch then begin the pattern. in the end there will be spirals in the cowl. I will post pictures when I'm finished.

Back to knitting!

Homespun scarf

Christmas is over!!! This is my final project for Christmas. I have a couple of birthday presents to complete tomorrow and then I should be able to work on projects for me!! I don't really have a list too long....just a sweater, a scarf or two, and some dish clothes.

Haha ANYWAY!! The while reason I'm posting is to share a new scarf pattern I'm trying out. I've written it myself although its not real complicated. I'm using size 17 circular needles. I cast on 120 stitches and knitting until it's as wide as I want it. I'm crocheting a matching hat and to make it look manly I put some charcoal grey and blue in it. The scarf has one stripe of grey so far it will have a blue stripe soon which should match the hat nicely.

For a more specific pattern:
Using doubled up homespun yarn and size 17 circular needles (29 in. long)
CO 120
With main color knit 4 rows
With contrasting color #1 knit 2 rows
With main color knit 4 rows
With contrasting color #2 knit 2 rows
With main color knit 4 rows
BO

Here's the picture of what it looks like 1/2 way through.

Since you are working on circular knitting needles it would be very easy to convert this into an infinity scarf pattern just join into a circle and knit your heart out.
